Tony Frangie Mawad

Tony was born in Caracas. He graduated with a double major (cum laude) in Journalism and Political Science at Boston University and he has written about politics, economics, society and the environment for a variety of sites including Bloomberg, Politico, The Economist, Foreign Policy, Americas Quarterly, etc.

He is currently a fellow at the Institute 2100 and is a former Caracas Chronicles editor and formerly coordinated the Venesis project at the Andrés Bello Catholic University in Caracas. He is also a Journalism professor at the Monteávila University. 

Tony has also done freelance research consulting and worked with plenty of international and Venezuelan organizations, academies and media. He also joined the European Union Visitors Program and its community. Tony is inclined to new media-focused journalism, creating his own Substack newsletter Venezuela Weekly, podcast and journalism-oriented social media content.
